Mirjam lives in Pambula - a small village in the Bega Valley. She has exhibited widely including juried touring shows around Australia and New Zealand. Her textile art has won awards and been included in numerous magazines and calendars, also featured in a 3-year touring show in the USA. This work (only a portion pictured here) is inspired by the moonlight over Pambula Beach.
Artist statement: I often work in layers of natural fibers creating intrigue that invites the observer to interpret the work in their own way. My artwork is influenced by my surroundings in nature or personal experiences in life. I like to experiment by applying screen-printing, reverse printing, mono printing, discharging, scraping and photography various times over to achieve my desired outcome. Layers of fabric will give me the freedom to express myself in my chosen mediums.
